Garner Park and Recreation Department

The Garner Park & Recreation Department is made up of 5 area parks, a $3.2 million Aquatic Center (opened 2007),
a $3.9 million Veterans Memorial Recreation Center (opened 2009)
and numerous recreational programs for youth and adult.  Youth programs include, but are not limited to basketball,volleyball, flag football, softball, baseball, soccer, color guard, tennis, swimming lessons, track & field, running club, dance, athletic enhancement classes, and much more.  Adult programs include group fitness classes, women's volleyball, co-ed volleyball, flag football, 4-on-4 basketball, sand volleyball and semi-fast pitch softball.  New programs and ideas are being implemented all the time.

The Parks and Recreation Board meets on the second Wednesday of every month at the Veterans Memorial Recreation Center with the meeting starting at 12:00 pm. The board is made up of members of the community appointed by the Mayor of Garner.
